ARTfx FAQ

Do you install and service work from national sign companies?

“Forwarding” work (jobs shipped in from afar) represents a significant portion of ARTfx’ overall installation and service schedule. Whether the shipment involves a single-panel sign or illuminated letters requiring complex wiring, ARTfx will get it done. Additionally, our national partners have come to rely on our staff for expert permit procurement, meticulous installation, and resourceful cosmetic and electrical repair.

What if my sign needs to be installed in another state or country?

ARTfx typically installs work within a 150-mile radius of our facility in Bloomfield, Connecticut. This region includes most of New England, adjacent New York and northern New Jersey. Beyond that, we have established a long-standing network of associated sign installers throughout the U.S. and Canada. Since 1983, ARTfx has successfully shipped and installed thousands of signs beyond our own geographical nucleus.

What is the first step in getting a sign designed and made by ARTfx?

Contact ARTfx by phone, email or through our website. If you choose to call during regular hours – Monday through Friday – 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, you will reach a human voice – not a recording or automated phone processing. And from the beginning, we listen closely, asking relevant questions so we may thoroughly review your goals and expectations. From there, ARTfx’ design staff set ideas into plan by means of hand-sketching or state-of-the-art computer programs. Through this formative process, we welcome client participation whether it be in-person or through virtual on-line meetings. Ultimately, approved designs undergo careful conversion to detailed, scaled schematics formatted for fabrication and future records.

Can you navigate the permit and zoning process?

Our procurement team includes a former municipal zoning official. We streamline approvals including basic permits, special exceptions, historic reviews, and variances.

Does ARTfx fabricate signs on premise or outsource the work?

Approximately 80% of all ARTfx’ work is built in our own facility. Our in-house production includes some extremely complex automated fabrication, or traditional skills requiring expert manual dexterity such neon tube bending, spray painting and carving. Specialty products such as cast or etched metal plaques, soldered or brazed dimensional letters, and electronic message boards are shipped in from a reliable and long-standing network of industry wholesalers.

What makes ARTfx different from the average sign company?

We design with feasibility in mind and the knowledge that we can fabricate almost anything. Beyond standard signwork, ARTfx features an unusually vast array of mastered skills including, masonry, glasswork, neon, certified welding, faux finishing, mural painting, and woodwork.
