In dictionaries the term has many definitions, none of which refer to signs. However, in the sign trade, “pylon sign” generally refers to a free-standing, elevated sign with a supporting tower-like structure. ARTfx designs and builds many pylon signs, but they don't look like towers. In the ARTfx dictionary, “pylon sign” means another great looking sign, but just a little higher up.
